Lava-rock walls, deep lanais, ohia-wood post-and-beam, tin gable roof — modern interpretation of Hawaiian plantation vernacular.

• Lava-rock base courses and accent walls — local Big Island or Maui lava, hand-set.
• Cedar board-and-batten or horizontal shiplap siding above the lava-rock base.
• Steep gabled standing-seam metal roof (weathered green, zinc, or matte white) with deep overhangs.
• Deep wraparound lanai with painted ceiling (often Hawaiian sky blue or pale celadon).
